If you get an error, run hostapd in debug mode, you should read these troubleshooting tips.
Running hostapd with no arguments shows that specifying -d and -dd enables debug messages:
-d TV show more debug messages ( -dd – even more)

I am trying to set up a wireless access point using a personal computer. replaced his old Intel WiFi-compatible Link 5100 with an Atheros AR9462. I recently installed a brand new ie8 16.04 server.
To configure wireless access, I installed hostapd and created a simple functional configuration

After these I-configurations, the device is rebooted. My network is active (verified with /etc/init.d/networking status ). (checked by hostapd via service hostapd status ) seems to be working fine. However, I cannot see the prepaid AP from the second Iwconfig device.Wlp3s0
